This instructional document was written for ENC3241: Writing for the Technical Profession at the University of Central Florida. It demonstrates the ability to communicate a multi-step process clearly and concisely for a general audience.

How to Change a Mazda CX-5 Key Fob Battery

Materials:

CR2025 or CR2032 3V lithium coin battery
Small flathead screwdriver

Steps:

Step 1: Slide the small black knob on the silver underside of the key to open the front black panel of the key fob

Step 2: Remove auxiliary key.
Step 3: With screwdriver, press down the notch in the bottom right to begin separating the front from the rest of the fob.

Step 4: Gently pry open the case to remove the back cover with the silver Mazda emblem. Use fingers or a small screwdriver.

Step 5: Carefully pry open the circular battery cover with fingers or small screwdriver at the bottom end.

Step 6: Slide out the old battery.
Step 7: Slide in new battery with positive side facing up towards you (marked with a “+”).

Step 8: Pop the battery cover back on.
Step 9: Press the back cover with the Mazda emblem back in place.
Step 10: Place auxiliary key back inside key fob.

Step 11: Slide cover over the auxiliary compartment in direction of arrow (listen for a click).

Step 12: Press lock/unlock buttons to confirm red LED light on fob flashes (indicates battery is correctly changed).
